On Wednesday, 5 February 2025, the Ministry of Economy (MoE) of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development (SARIO), hosted the largest event yet for the diplomatic community: 'Discover Slovakia: Economic & Investment Insights for Diplomatic Missions" at the Ministry of Economy's premises. The event aimed to present Slovakia as an attractive investment destination and reliable business partner, with a particular focus on strategic sectors and opportunities for economic cooperation. Almost 100 ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from over 60 countries accredited to the Slovak Republic attended the event.
„Slovakia is a country with an open economy and a strong export sector. Active economic diplomacy and support for strategic investments are key to our competitiveness and long-term economic stability. We want to present our diplomatic partners with a comprehensive overview of the investment and business opportunities that Slovakia offers,“ said Denisa Saková, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
At the event, the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic and SARIO presented Slovakia as an attractive investment destination, with a highly qualified workforce, a strong industrial background and a stable business environment.
„The idea behind today's event is to present Slovakia from the perspective of investment and bilateral cooperation, and we hope that diplomats will convey this message to their respective countries. Our goal is to continue expanding trade and investment relations with partners from all over the world. Slovakia is ready to welcome new investors, promote innovation, and develop international cooperation that will contribute to the country's long-term economic prosperity,“ said Vladimír Šimoňák, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
During the event, Slovakia's diplomatic representatives were presented with the country's key competitive advantages, including:
- a stable business environment and membership of the euro area.
- a strong industrial base with global competitiveness.
- well-developed supply chains in the automotive, electronics, and IT sectors.
- a high-quality workforce with affordable labour costs.
- the availability and stability of the electricity grid, and an energy mix with a relatively low carbon footprint
„SARIO is a key partner for investors, acting as a one-stop shop. We provide incoming and established investors with comprehensive, tailored services, including assistance with market entry, location selection, identification of supply networks, and local partner selection. We also provide investors with information on state support opportunities. Over the past two decades, we have successfully completed almost 700 investment projects, creating more than 150,000 new jobs in the process," said Róbert Šimončič, Director General of SARIO.
The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic and the SARIO Agency prioritise helping to attract foreign investment and actively supporting Slovak entrepreneurs in expanding into foreign markets. They open doors for Slovak companies and help them to establish themselves abroad through business missions and participation in international trade fairs. Last year, the Ministry of Economy organised 29 business missions to 25 countries around the world in cooperation with SARIO, including the USA, Brazil, Turkey, China and South Korea. These missions were attended by 682 entrepreneurs. In 2024 alone, 96 Slovak companies participated in eight international trade fairs.
