On Thursday, 20 February 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, met with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) at the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic. The meeting focused on supporting the decarbonisation of industry, strengthening energy infrastructure, and improving the energy efficiency of public buildings in Slovakia.
„Slovakia is facing the challenge of making its industry more sustainable and digitally competitive. The European Investment Bank is a key partner in this process, providing financing for renewable energy projects, modernising energy infrastructure, and supporting innovation in industry. Together, we can achieve our climate goals while strengthening the competitiveness of Slovak businesses,“ said Minister D. Saková.
Another important area in which EIB funding could be allocated is the growth and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. Part of the €240 million loan granted by the bank to the Slovak Republic could be directed towards this area. A key topic discussed at the meeting was how to utilise the EIB's expertise in setting up the Social and Climate Fund to address the needs of Slovak citizens.
