There is a new appeal for entrepreneurs to support research and development projects
Vytvorené dňa: 07.07.2025 Aktualizované dňa: 07.07.2025
Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to receive non-repayable financial contributions to support industrial research and experimental development projects. In December 2024, the Ministry of Economy (MH) of the Slovak Republic announced three funding opportunities totalling more than EUR 77.3 million for businesses within the Slovakia Programme.
The aim of these appeals is to encourage companies to innovate their products and services by implementing industrial research and experimental development projects. The intention is to encourage companies to invest more in innovation activities and strengthen the business sector's involvement in research and development. At the same time, opportunities are created for collaboration between businesses and research organisations, as well as partnerships between businesses, which will help them to achieve the objectives of their financial support more quickly.
Projects implemented by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the districts of the Trenčín, Banská Bystrica and Košice self-governing regions undergoing transformation, which exposes these regions to increased threat and vulnerability to negative economic, environmental and social impacts, including negative impact on employment, can apply for a contribution of up to €800,000 under the first appeal with an allocation of more than €17.3 million from the Fair Transformation Fund.
In addition to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, the second and third appeals are open to large enterprises too. Supported R&D projects must align with the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation of the Slovak Republic (2021–2027). Unlike the first appeal, these projects can be implemented across the entire Slovak Republic. For the second apeal for proposals, €24 million has been earmarked. Companies can submit an application for up to €800,000 for a project lasting up to two years. For the third call, which has an allocation of €36 million, enterprises can apply for a maximum of €800,000, with a maximum project duration of three years.
All the necessary information on the appeals is published on the website www.mhsr.sk under the Programming period 2021-2027 | EU Structural Funds | EU and Funds | MHSR. Interested parties can contact vyzvy@mhsr.sk for more information.
