Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková opened the Business Forum held on Tuesday 7 May 2024 in Baku while also taking part in formal negotiations on gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Slovakia. In addition to the diversification of gas supplies to Slovakia, Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic in collaboration with the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) prepared a Business Mission aimed at developing bilateral relations with countries that have a high economic potential. A group of entrepreneurs engaged in fields of engineering, tourism and information and communication technologies, focused on cooperation between Slovak and Azerbaijani companies.
As a member of the Delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico, the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic D. Saková took part in negotiations with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on enhancing bilateral ties, along with focusing on the economic cooperation. Key parts of negotiations held with the Azerbaijani President I. Aliyev comprised also possibilities of Azerbaijani gas imports into Slovakia. “Slovakia supports the diversification project titled ´Solidarity Ring´, which uses the infrastructure in place. This solution may efficiently help strengthen the diversification of transport routes and sources of gas in Central and South-Eastern Europe regions that are dependent on gas supplies from Russia. Implementation of this project could significantly contribute to the European Union efforts aimed at the diversification of gas routes and sources, especially in this region,” stated the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková after the meeting.
The Business Mission was composed of more than 30 Slovak businesses engaged in various fields including technologies on smart cities and innovative solutions, specialised systems for operation, support and maintenance of air operations, but also tourism including spa services, food and processing industries. SARIO develops an active cooperation with its Azerbaijani partner, the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO).
„Business missions form an integral part of deepening bilateral economic ties, providing a better access for Slovak businesses into Azerbaijani market and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships between business communities of both countries,” concluded the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková.
