Minister of Economy Saková discussed the possibilities of gas transport to Slovakia from the Caspian Region

On Wednesday 10 April 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková met with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov. Also, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico attended the meeting, which addressed the possibilities of gas transport to Slovakia from the Caspian Region. Beyond this, discussions focused on enhancing trade cooperation between the two countries, promotion of mutual investments and preparations for the first session of the Joint Slovak-Azerbaijani Work Group on Cooperation in Economy.
„Slovakia supports the Solidarity Ring project, which uses existing infrastructure. This solution may efficiently help strengthen the diversification of transport routes and sources of gas in Central and South-Eastern Europe regions that are dependent on gas supplies from Russia. Implementation of the project may significantly contribute to the European Union efforts aimed at diversification of gas routes and sources, especially in this region,” claimed Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková after the meeting.
Ministers of Economy discussed also the forthcoming trade mission to take place in Azerbaijan on 6 and 7 May 2024. The mission will involve some 20 Slovak businesses engaged in various sectors including smart cities technologies and innovative solutions, specialised systems for operation, support and maintenance of air operations, but also tourism including spa services, food and processing industries. In preparing the mission in question, Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) cooperates with the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO), while the public registration is being open for Slovak businesses until 10 April 2024 to be followed by SARIO forwarding the list of the trade businesses to the AZPROMO along with detailed description of trade and investment intentions of the respective participants.
„Business missions form an integral part of deepening bilateral economic ties, provision of better access for Slovak businesses to Azerbaijani market and promotion of mutually beneficial partnerships between business communities of both countries”, concluded the Minister of Economy Denisa Saková.
