Government Focuses on Five Key Areas to Support the Automotive Industry

On Friday, July 4, 2025, the Government of the Slovak Republic held a meeting attended also by representatives of car manufacturers, industry associations, and organizations. The Slovak automotive industry, employing around 128,000 people and contributing 10% to Slovakia’s GDP, is undergoing the largest transformation in its history, further influenced by the current geopolitical situation. The government approved a series of measures to ensure the competitiveness of the sector, which forms the backbone of the Slovak economy. In Bratislava, representatives of the European Commission met with Slovak industry leaders and key stakeholders in the energy sector.

On Thursday, 3 July 2025, Bratislava hosted an important meeting between representatives of the Slovak Ministry of Economy, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Saková, and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, led by Director-General Ditte J. Jørgensen. They met with leaders of business and industry associations and organizations to discuss energy prices and the future of the EU energy market, particularly following the presentation of the REPowerEU Roadmap measures. Slovakia Supports the Development of Advanced Nuclear Technologies. A New Joint Venture for Spent Fuel Reuse is Emerging in Jaslovské Bohunice

The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic welcomes the creation of a joint venture for the development of an advanced 4th-generation nuclear reactor and the reuse of spent nuclear fuel. This is a strategic initiative that brings together industrial and research leaders in the field of nuclear energy and moves Slovakia closer to a low-emission, safe, and technologically advanced future. The project is based on the cooperation of JAVYS, newcleo, and VUJE, which signed the founding agreement on Monday, 23 June 2025. Minister Denisa Saková in Uzbekistan: Six Memoranda, Nearly 30 Slovak Companies, New Impulses for Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, took part in an official visit to Uzbekistan on 8–9 June 2025 as a member of the delegation led by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The main outcome of the bilateral talks and the business forum in Tashkent was the signing of six memoranda and cooperation statements in the fields of infrastructure, energy, the automotive industry, agriculture, and IT. Nearly 30 Slovak companies were presented at the forum, and over two days, more than 140 bilateral B2B meetings took place with representatives of Uzbek companies and institutions. read more >>

D. Saková: Slovakia has the knowledge and infrastructure to become a hub for implementing innovative nuclear technologies crucial for the entire EU.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, paid a working visit to the Italian Republic. In Rome, she met with the Italian Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, to discuss strengthening energy security in both countries, expanding cooperation in nuclear energy, and advancing the energy transformation of industry. The bilateral meeting took place during the official visit of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Italy and his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Both leaders, along with Minister Denisa Saková, attended the signing of the shareholder agreement to establish a joint Slovak-Italian company called the Center for Spent Nuclear Fuel Utilization Development (CVP), a.s. This company will focus on developing and deploying an advanced modular reactor cooled by liquid lead, capable of repeatedly reusing spent nuclear fuel. read more >>
